- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups half-and-half cream
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or chives (optional, for garnish)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced white or yellow onion
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup plain all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground pork sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and half-and-half cream.
- Add the cooked sausage, cheeses, onions, bell pepper, and seasonings to the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the sausage mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pie dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pie is set and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped green onions or chives if desired.
