Description

This rich and indulgent dessert features a fudgy chocolate base topped with a gooey, molten sauce that forms as it bakes, perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

– 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1 cup self-rising flour
– 1 ¾ cups white sugar, divided
– 1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
– ½ cup milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the butter in an 8×8-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven.

2. Prepare the Batter:
– In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, ¾ cup of the sugar, and 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter, but do not stir.

3. Make the Topping:
– In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 1 cup sugar and ¼ cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the dish.

4. Add Boiling Water:
– Gently pour the boiling water over the top of the batter and cocoa mixture without stirring.

5. Bake:
– Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is set and the cobbler is bubbling.

6. Serve:
– Let cool slightly before serving. Scoop into bowls, ensuring you get both the cake and the sauce, and enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
