Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans)
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 2 cups water or beef broth
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions or sour cream for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the chili, tomato sauce, elbow macaroni, and water or beef broth.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
  6. Season with chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, topped with chopped green onions or sour cream if desired.
