- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans)
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions or sour cream for topping
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the chili, tomato sauce, elbow macaroni, and water or beef broth.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
- Season with chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, topped with chopped green onions or sour cream if desired.
Notes
- This dish can be made with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Feel free to add additional vegetables like bell peppers or corn for extra flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
